Putu Cakes

Putu Cakes it's not mean from a name of a balinese name for the first son/ daughter in famili's names "PUTU".

Putu cake (from the Javanese, puthu) is a type of Indonesian food. in the form of a cake that contains sugar and grated coconut that comes from Kerala, India, wrapped in steamed rice flour. This cake is usually steamed in bamboo tubes placed in and sold at night. Sound of steam coming out of the steamer tool is both a promotional tool for merchants who sell. Most of the color of the cake putu is white and green.

A number of traders today replacing the bamboo with PVC pipe on the grounds of practicality, although the use of PVC in terms of endangering health.

Putu cake itself has expanded to other countries, like Singapore and Malaysia, although the names and forms for this cake a little different, but it feels itself equal to the traditional cake putu Indonesia itself.
